VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Morgans Run Road clean-up

October 10, 2020, 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Who: Volunteers to help clean up our adopted highway, Morgan’s Run Road. Volunteers must be at least 12 years old.

When: Saturday, October 10, 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Where: Morgan’s Run Road, meet at Cheat Lake Park.

Due to COVID precautions, volunteers are required to bring their own gloves. The WV Division of Highways provides pickers, trash bags, and caution signs.

RSVP to Amy at gentzler@gmail.com by 10/7 so we’ll be sure to have enough gear for everyone.

All volunteers must watch the Adopt-A-Highway safety video at the bottom of this page: https://dep.wv.gov/environmental-advocate/reap/aah/Pages/default.aspx, before picking up litter.

As you can see, none of our federal elected officials seem to really care about what is going on along the Ohio River, at least not enough to establish a field office in the Mid Ohio Valley. The graphic has contact info on how to let our elected officials in DC know that you do not support the hiring of grossly unqualified individuals, the constant lies and accusations or the dismantling of America. Take some time to craft a clear, concise message, as the saying goes "short and sweet" can be very impactful. For example calling our 2 Senators that will vote on confirmations ... "I'm (Jane Doe) from Parkersburg WV, and I'm calling because I do not believe that Robert Kennedy Jr is qualified to run the Department of Health and his appointment would put the health of West Virginians and all Americans at risk. Thank you"Or ... "I'm (John Doe) from Williamstown WV, and I'm calling to ask you to vote no on Kash Patel for the FBI. He is unqualified and too extreme to be trusted with the powers of that department. Thank you." If you are wondering where the email option is, you have to go through the representatives website and through some different channels. And then we are uncertain how much effect emails currently have in contacting a representative at this time. Phone calls seem to have a steady impact, even if it is just a staffer taking down your message.
